American Quality Foods Receives a Superior Rating in Food Safety Audit
MILLS RIVER—American Quality Foods, a leading distributor in diet dessert and drink mixes, has recently received a superior rating with its HACCP/Food Safety Audit, receiving a 96.5 overall.
“We are thrilled with our HACCP rating,” said Kathy Milner, American Quality Foods President. “Quality is very important to us and we’re ecstatic to have received the rating we did.”
The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) audit measures how a specific company’s production plans are being implemented; they are reviewed along with a company’s records and makes onsite observations about how one’s business is being run. More specifically, the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Food Safety audit provides a company with objective data to improve their food safety and quality systems by looking over areas such as food safety and quality systems; grounds, building and equipment; processing and food defense.
American Quality Foods is one of the newer companies to be audited under the new Food Safety Modernization Act, which aims to ensure the U.S. food supply is safe by shifting the focus of federal regulators from responding to contamination to preventing it.
