On March 25, the American Diabetes Association's Alert! Day® urges the American public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
The Diabetes Risk Test asks users to answer simple questions about weight, age, family history and other potential risk factors for pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes. Preventive tips are provided for everyone who takes the test, including encouraging those at high risk to talk with their health care provider. To take the test, click here.
Many health, nutrition and dietary experts also use the day to plan events to discuss obesity and type 2 diabetes. In past years, The Oaks at Family Health West in Fruita, Colorado, has planned a day of health screenings, dietary tips, recipes, cooking demonstrations, fitness consultations and Tai Chi classes for residents and the general public.
This year, for every test taken from March 25 to April 25, Boar’s Head Brand® will donate $5 to the American Diabetes Association, up to $50,000. Alert! Day is also nationally supported by Walgreens.
